Quick setup
Add the following dependency to your app's `build.gradle` file:
Use one of the utilities from the library, such as marker clustering, heatmaps, or the other utilities.
Prerequisites and notes
The Maps SDK for Android utility library supports Android API level 9 and above. The animated re-clustering features are only available for Android API level 14 and above. When setting your project build target, make sure you use the latest Android API level.

Get the Maps SDK for Android utility library
Download the android-maps-utils repository. You can do it by cloning the repo (recommended, to receive automatic updates) or downloading a zip file. If you want to customize the library, you should fork the repo.
The repository includes:
- A demo application, in the
demo
directory. - The library of utilities, in the
library
directory. - Various files containing license, contributors, and readme information.
- Gradle build configuration, for use with Android Studio.
Run the utility demo app

The utility library ships with a demo app that includes sample implementations of each utility. Follow these steps to run the demo app on your Android device.
- Clone the utility library:
- In Android Studio, choose File -> New -> Import Project.
- Browse to and select (double-click) the android-maps-utils directory that was created when you cloned the utility library. Android Studio now builds the project.
- If you haven't already done so, enable developer mode on the Android device. Then attach the Android device to your computer.
- Build and run the demo app.
The app should open on the Android device, displaying a list of utilities including clustering, poyutil, heatmap, and more. You can also find the app in your app list, under the name Maps Utils Demo.

- Icons anchored to specific positions on the map (Markers).
- Sets of line segments (Polylines).
- Enclosed segments (Polygons).
- Bitmap graphics anchored to specific positions on the map (Ground Overlays).
- Sets of images which are displayed on top of the base map tiles(Tile Overlays).

The Maps SDK for Android includes built-in support for accessibility.This section contains a high-level summary of the accessibility features thatare automatically enabled for any application using the API.
When users enable the TalkBack accessibility feature on their mobile devices,each single swipe across the screen moves the focus from one UI element to thenext. (An alternative to single swiping is to explore UI elements by dragging afinger over the interface.) As a UI element comes into focus, TalkBack reads outthe name of the element.
